About Special Characters
Special Characters collects the typographic symbols people reach for most often and hands them back as one space-separated string to copy from. When a document needs a copyright mark, a proper em dash, an arrow or a currency sign that is not on the keyboard, this is the shortcut to grab it.
The set covers the useful groups: the copyright, registered and trademark marks; arithmetic operators and comparison signs; arrows in all four directions; curly quotes, dashes and ellipsis; and the common currency symbols. The list is fixed and returns the same characters in the same order every time, so it works as a stable reference as much as a copying aid.
What it is not is a searchable catalogue. There is no grouping, no HTML entity, no Unicode name and no code point shown next to any symbol, and because the whole list comes back as one line you have to paste it and trim to isolate a single mark. The html-symbols tool is the companion that shows the entity form when you need it.
How to use Special Characters
- 1 Open the tool - there are no fields to fill in.
- 2 Read the space-separated list of symbols.
- 3 Copy the whole string and take the character you need, trimming the rest away.
Frequently asked questions
Which symbols are included?
Copyright, registered and trademark marks, arithmetic and comparison operators, arrows, curly quotes, dashes, ellipsis, fractions and the common currency signs, all in a fixed order on one line.
How do I copy a single character?
The tool returns the whole list as one space-separated string. Copy it, paste it somewhere temporary, and trim away the characters you do not need - there is no per-symbol copy button.
Are the HTML entities shown?
No. Only the raw characters appear, with no entity, name or code point beside them. For the entity form of symbols such as copyright and trademark, use the html-symbols tool instead.
Can I filter or search the list?
No. It is a fixed reference with nothing to configure and no search, so the set cannot be extended and you cannot narrow it to a category such as only arrows or only currency.

How Special Characters behaves in detail
These are the specifics of this implementation — the exact ranges, defaults and fixed settings you are working with.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Input | nothing - the tool has no fields and is a browse-only reference |
| Output | one space-separated string of common typographic symbols, fixed and identical on every run |
| Coverage | copyright, registered and trademark marks, arithmetic operators, arrows, currency signs, quotes, dashes and fractions |
| Order | the string opens with the copyright, registered and trademark symbols |
| Nature | the set is a static list with nothing to compute and nothing random in it |
| Copiability | the whole list is returned as one piece for copying, with symbols separated by single spaces |

What Special Characters does not do
Knowing the edges of a tool saves more time than another list of its features. These are the cases where it will not do what you might expect.
- The set is fixed and cannot be filtered. There is no search, no category grouping and no way to copy a single symbol on its own - the whole space-separated line is returned together, so picking one mark means pasting then trimming.
- Only the raw characters are shown. No HTML entity, no Unicode name and no code point appear next to any symbol, and there is no explanation of what each mark is for or how it is normally used.
- It is static reference content. Nothing is configurable, the list cannot be extended, and it overlaps with other reference tools rather than providing a comprehensive catalogue of every available glyph.
