About Fantasy Name Generator

Fantasy Name Generator invents a two-part character name at the press of a button, the kind of thing you reach for when a role-playing character, a game handle or a story needs a name and you are drawing a blank. There are no fields to fill in - one press produces a full name made of two syllables-and-a-half each, joined by a space.

The construction is a simple splice: each name is a prefix followed by a suffix. The ten prefixes are Ael, Thor, El, Gal, Ar, Bry, Fae, Kael, Ly and Mor, and the ten suffixes are ion, dor, wyn, ara, eth, or, alis, en, ora and iel. That gives one hundred possible single names, and because each full result joins two of them, ten thousand possible pairs - enough variety to feel like a name generator without any of the machinery behind it.

What it does not do is think. The syllables carry no meaning and no constraints - no gender, no race, no theme, no filter on how pronounceable a result is - and the pool is small enough that a liked name can repeat sooner than the raw count suggests. There is also no memory: nothing is seeded, nothing can be configured, and earlier results are not kept, so a name you want to use has to be copied before the next press.

How to use Fantasy Name Generator

  1. 1 Press the button - there are no fields to fill in.
  2. 2 Read the two-part name in the result.
  3. 3 Press again for a different name, and copy any you want to keep before the next run.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a gender, race or theme?

No. The syllables are fixed and carry no meaning, so there is no filter for gender, race, theme or length. Every result is drawn from the same ten prefixes and ten suffixes regardless of what you intend.

How many different names can it make?

Ten prefixes against ten suffixes gives one hundred single names, and a full result joins two of them for ten thousand possible pairs. In practice results repeat sooner than that because the pool is small.

Can I set a seed or reuse a name I liked?

There is no seed and no history. Each press is a fresh draw and earlier results are not kept on the page, so to reuse a name you liked you need to copy it before generating the next one.

Why do some results look odd?

The parts are spliced without any rules about how they sound together, so a prefix and a suffix can occasionally combine into something hard to pronounce. There is no filter for that - generate again if a result does not suit.

How Fantasy Name Generator behaves in detail

These are the specifics of this implementation — the exact ranges, defaults and fixed settings you are working with.

Parameter Value
Input nothing at all - the tool has no fields and produces a name as soon as the button is pressed
Construction two names, each made of a prefix and a suffix, joined by a single space
Prefixes ten to choose from - Ael, Thor, El, Gal, Ar, Bry, Fae, Kael, Ly and Mor
Suffixes ten to choose from - ion, dor, wyn, ara, eth, or, alis, en, ora and iel
Combinations one hundred possible single names from the ten by ten pool, and ten thousand possible full-name pairs
Randomness each press draws afresh, so repeated runs give different names

What Fantasy Name Generator does not do

Knowing the edges of a tool saves more time than another list of its features. These are the cases where it will not do what you might expect.

  • The names carry no meaning and no constraints. There is no gender, race, theme or setting to choose from, no filter on length or on how pronounceable a result is, and no dictionary of meanings behind the syllables - the output is pure concatenation of fixed parts.
  • The pool is tiny and closed. Ten prefixes against ten suffixes is one hundred single names, and with two names per result a pair can repeat sooner than the raw combination count suggests, so the generator is no substitute for a proper naming engine or a curated list.
  • There is nothing to configure and nothing remembered. No seed can be set, the two word lists cannot be extended, and one press gives exactly one name - earlier results are not kept anywhere on the page, so a name you liked has to be copied before the next press.
